Short version: the free tools run on your device and never upload your files. AI features send only what they need, for that single request.

Processed on your device (never uploaded)

• The on-device photo eraser, blur and pixelate
• The video watermark remover and add-watermark-to-video renderer

Sent to an AI model, only when you press the button

• AI fill: a crop around your marked area (at most 1024 px), plus the mask and any hint text you typed, is sent through Vercel AI Gateway to an image model (Black Forest Labs FLUX.1 Fill, with OpenAI GPT Image as a fallback). The result is returned to your browser.
• Find marks / text / logos: a downscaled copy of the image (at most 1024 px) is sent to an OpenAI vision model, which returns box coordinates.

CleanMarks does not store these images, and there are no accounts. The model providers process requests under their API terms. Standard server logs (time, status code) are kept briefly by our host, Vercel, and your IP address is used in memory to enforce the hourly AI limit.

Stored in your browser

To save you retyping, your brush size, watermark text and style, and watermark-maker design are kept in this browser’s localStorage (keys starting with cm:). They never leave your device.

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which is cookieless, to count page views. It does not see your files.

Responsible use

Use CleanMarks on images, videos and documents you own or have the right to edit. Removing watermarks or copyright information from other people’s work can infringe copyright.
