Why date stamps are easy to remove
Film and early digital cameras printed the date small, in one corner, and usually over out-of-focus background or ground. That is the ideal case for the patch-based eraser: plenty of similar texture nearby and a small area to fill. Scans of prints often have film grain, which the eraser copies too, so the fix blends in.
